Critically acclaimed rock ‘n’ roll tribute to the life
of John Lennon returns to the Hayworth Theatre
June 8 – August 25

Los Angeles, Calif. (May 20, 2013) – Tim Piper returns to Los Angeles with Just Imagine, an extraordinary rock ‘n’ roll celebration of the life and music of John Lennon. Backed by rock band Working Class Hero (Greg Piper on bass; Don Butler on guitar, Morley Bartnof on keyboards and Don Poncher on drums), Piper will channel Lennon at The Hayworth Theatre beginning June 8.

Written and directed by Steve Altman, Just Imagine Intertwines John Lennon’s songs with the stories behind them for a unique multimedia concert experience.

A musician, actor and songwriter Tim Piper has traveled the world performing music made famous by The Beatles and has distinguished himself as the preeminent John Lennon with roles in the CBS production The Linda McCartney Story, E! Channel’s John Lennon Story, Beatle Wives and as the singing voice of Lennon for the NBC TV movie of the week, In His Life -The John Lennon Story. With Working Class Hero, Piper has performed at numerous special events, including a pre-screening performance for the re-release debut of Yellow Submarine and the John Lennon 20th anniversary memorial gathering in Central Park.

Just Imagine runs June 8 through August 25, with performances on Saturdays @ 8 pm and Sundays @ 3 pm (no performances June 29-30 or July 13-14). Tickets are $30, $50 and $70. CREATIVE TEAM


A multi-faceted musician, actor and songwriter, Tim Piper has traveled the world performing music made famous by The Beatles. From his early teen years in Southern California, Piper played in numerous original and Top 40 'cover' bands, while honing is skills as a guitarist, bass player, singer and songwriter. In addition to being a member of various Beatle Tribute bands, including Revolution, Piper has distinguished himself as the pre-eminent John Lennon; with roles in the CBS production 'The Linda McCartney Story,' E! Channel's production of the 'John Lennon Story,' 'Beatle Wives,' and, more recently, as the singing voice of John Lennon for the NBC TV Movie of the Week, "In His Life -The John Lennon Story." With his band, Tim has performed at numerous 'Celebrity Special Events,' including a pre-screening performance for the re-release debut of Yellow Submarine. Piper's other credits include: Legends In Concert (Las Vegas, NV and Internationally), Shea Stadium concert for a Mets baseball game, and a Bob Hope Worldwide Television Special.

Director, Steve Altman, recently wrote and directed "Duality" starring David Strassman at the Meta Theatre and also produces, writes and directs the quarterly music/film/sketch revue, “Saturn & Vine: Adventures in New Media.” He has written and directed many short films that can be seen at saturnandvine.com and is currently at work on a musical version of HG Wells' Time Machine. As an actor, Steve toured as Judas in 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and Berger in 'Hair' with the New York City Repertory Theatre. He co-starred with Ed Begley (in Fox's 'Chameleon'), William Baldwin ('A Plumm Summer'), Robert Vaughn ('Transylvania Twist'), Bruno Kirby ('Slap and Tickle') and Mike O'Malley ('Diverting Devotion'.) As a stand-up Steve worked with Jay Leno, Jerry Lewis, Garry Shandling, Dennis Miller, Brad Garrett, Aisha Tyler and Bill Maher appearing on Comedy Central, HBO, Showtime, MTV, ABC, NBC, A&E, Fox and the BBC. A songwriter with Motown Records Steve has written music for José Feliciano, Smokey Robinson, Columbia Television, Disney, HBO, Dick Clark, NASA and has opened for Chicago, Pat Benatar, The Righteous Brothers, Pointer Sisters and The Wallflowers.

Musical Director, Greg Piper has been leading original and cover rock bands since high school. He started his theatrical career in 1971 as the lead role of 'Villian' in the melodramatic production of 'Curse You Villian.' In the early 80's, Greg joined Womanizer, (now called The Tooners), whose animated music video won the Gold Plaque Award at The Chicago International Film Festival. The Tooners are the creators of Rocktasia, the ultimate merging of art, animation and rock & roll and their music is released on Papercuts - The Illustrated Lyrics Magazine. In 1988 Greg began touring the world with leading Beatle tribute acts "Revolution - The Beatles Tribute" and "Working Class Hero - The John Lennon Experience." Along with his brother Tim and guitarist Don Butler, Greg performed at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, OH in connection with the premiere of the John Lennon exhibit. Greg is currently producing the eccentric musical 'Rock N Roll Rehab' - the patented twelve step rock and roll rehab program for those addicted to rock & roll, where we hear the sad, sometimes tragic testimonies of individuals just like yourselves... rock and roll fans.
