The South County Community Concert Association closed its season with a concert that rocked the walls of Southern auditorium. Revolution: The Beatles Tribute packed in a large audience, some of whom were major Beatles fans while others concluded they were fans only when they realized how many of the songs they knew. "I loved seeing the joyful response to familiar Beatles music that the performers played and sang so capably. It seemed we were really hearing the Beatles play and appreciated the music even more from hindsight," said longtime SCCA volunteer Betty Knupp. "I noticed how silent the audience was during selections like 'Imagine' with its dreamed message of peace. And the next moment they were standing and swaying hands and bodies -- fun to see. The performers did a terrific job involving and energizing the audience. This concert was a spontaneous and joyful happening." Although other groups perform Beatles hits, this is a unique group of serious musicians, not mere imitators. The concert began with a recreation of the famous 1964 Ed Sullivan television show introducing the Fab Four to American audiences and ushering in Beatlemania. When asked how many remembered the Sullivan broadcast, there was a large show of hands from people in the audience. An opera lover, I am a bit late to appreciate Beatles music, understanding its appeal only after hearing Metropolitan Opera tenor Jan Pearce sing "And I Love Her," a revelation in its simple melodic beauty. And the Beatles show "Love" at the Mirage in Las Vegas was my favorite among 10 shows covered last summer during an American Theatre Critics Association conference. This Cirque du Soleil production features original mono recordings transferred into a more than 60-channel sound that surrounds the audience. No lesser authorities than Ringo
REVOLUTION Just a note to tell you how much we appreciate REVOLUTION'S appearance in our Courtyard Concert Series here at the Smithsonian Institution's National Portrait Gallery. This was definitely the most successful concert series we've ever presented here and you guys were responsible for setting the momentum of that success by providing the kink-off concert for THE BEATLES' SECOND INVASION. Our visitors were not just entertained, they were enchanted. One of our programming goals is to bring people into the gallery to view the exhibitions and we certainly accomplished that. Not only did people visit the FACES OF TIME exhibition, but I speculate that the most popular object view during that period was the Gerald Scarfe papier-mache of the Beatles. Over the run of the concert series, almost 5,000 people attended and many of those visitors continue to rave about your group: your stage presence, your musicianship, and your incredible resemblance to the original Beatles. It was a real joy to present you guys here at the Portrait Gallery. You are not only gifted musicians but you're also a pleasure to work with. I have forwarded your group's name to the other museums that are presenting the FACES OF TIME exhibition. My warmest regards to all of you in REVOLUTION. The entire institute joins me in thanking all of you for your willingness to come and recreate for us the magic we remember as the BEATLES. Sincerely,Jewell Robinson
REVOLUTION Please accept this letter as a glowing endorsement of REVOLUTION - THE BAND THAT GOES BEYOND BEATLEMANIA. Their set on our main stage was very well-received by our audience. Expert musicianship and very tight harmonies made their one hour set one of the best we have had at our facility. In addition to a fine performance, I was very impressed with the professionalism of the group. Regards, Dean Baran
SPIRIT OF BUTTE PROMOTIONS 316 W. Park Butte, MT 59701 Bringing Quality Entertainment to Southwest Montana REVOLUTION - THE BAND THAT GOES BEYOND BEATLEMANIA I have just 7 words to describe REVOLUTION . . . . FANTASTIC, UNBELIEVABLE, AMAZING, INCREDIBLE, and "REAL NICE GUYS". I was never so impressed as I was with the act REVOLUTION. They not only put on an incredible show, but they are also the nicest people to work with. They love their audience and the audience loves them, especially the kids. Kids from 5 to 17 went nuts when they found out they could get REVOLUTION'S autographs after the show. It really brought me back to the 60's and their back screen video of all the 60's memorabilia and Beatles trivia really added to their already GREAT show! I must say, I was skeptical when you said they look, act, and sound just like the Beatles, but they really do! The audience comments during intermission were amazing and the after show comments were equally impressive. It's now 3 weeks since their incredible show and I'm still getting feedback on their performance. Meridith, I am definitely going to have them back for another concert, because people are already asking me when they will be back. There is no question in my mind the second time around will be as equally successful as the first. I'm looking forward to working with you and REVOLUTION again in the future. Thanks for letting me know about this fantastic group! Feel free to give my name to anyone for a reference for their incredible show. John Raymond Spirit of Butte Promotions MT GRETNA THEATRE REVOLUTION Forgive the lateness of this communique. I was waiting for the final numbers to come in on REVOLUTION, anticipating that I would have great news to announce. And I do, REVOLUTION - THE BAND THAT GOES BEYOND BEATLEMANIA did the single biggest box office in recent Mt. Gretna history! When I booked the boys, I knew from past experience that they would give us a great show and perhaps bring in a younger, more diverse, audience. Never in my wildest dreams did I think they would practically sell-out a 700 seat house -- former home of the American Shaw Festival -- with an audience accustomed to legit theatre and book musicals. As to the show and the guys themselves: like everyone else who works with the act, I consider them to be one of the most professional, charming, gracious and fun group of people with whom I have ever worked. Their outreach into the community, attention to their audience after the show and respect for the staff and crew is in a class by itself. In twenty five years in the business, I've never seen grandparents, parents and kids (even babies) dancing in the aisles. A heartfelt thank you from everyone here at the theatre. Sincerely, Pat Julian
